Haiti H2O: Hope to Opportunity will have a pumpkin sale from Oct. 6-9 at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Road.

Each year, Haiti H2O sells pumpkins to support the communities in Haiti with which it partners.

The pumpkin is an important reminder to Haitians of their independence, dating to 1804. Every year, on Haiti’s Independence Day, Haitians celebrate by eating Soup Joumou, a spicy pumpkin soup that was once only served to the country’s enslavers.

It’s best to come early. Pumpkin inventory is limited. The sale will continue until all the pumpkins are gone.

Hours of operation will be 3 to 7 p.m. on weeknights, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Small pumpkins will be $10, medium $15 and large $20.

Bales of hay and fall mums will also be available.

Haiti H2O: Hope to Opportunity is a local non-profit that works alongside rural Haitians to transform hope into opportunity. It has been working in Haiti since 2006, partnering with communities to build their infrastructure in education, health and sanitation, homes and businesses.

Purchasing pumpkins through Haiti H2O will make an impact on the lives of rural Haitians.
