An obstructed stop sign contributed to a two-vehicle crash in Fawn on Monday, according to township police Chief Tim Mayberry.

The crash at Route 908 and Lardintown Road was reported about 3:45 p.m., according to Allegheny County 911.

Mayberry said a pickup traveling north on Lardintown toward Route 908 collided with a Subaru heading east on 908. The front end of the pickup and the passenger side of the Subaru were severely damaged.

Two people, a man and a woman, were in the pickup. They were not hurt and declined treatment at the scene.

The man driving the Subaru suffered head injuries and was taken to a hospital by ambulance, Mayberry said.

At the intersection, there are stop signs for traffic on Lardintown Road but not for traffic on Route 908.

Mayberry said the driver of the pickup could not see the stop sign on the south side of the intersection because it was obscured from view by vegetation. Mayberry said he contacted PennDOT to have the vegetation trimmed.

A PennDOT spokesman could not be reached for comment.

Because of the issue with the stop sign, Mayberry said he did not anticipate filing charges.
