A woman struck and killed by a train Friday night in Tarentum has been identified.
Beth Graff, 39, of Tarentum was pronounced dead at the scene along the railroad tracks adjacent to Fifth Avenue, Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Saturday afternoon.
An investigation by Allegheny County police found that Graff was walking northbound on the railroad tracks about 8 p.m. when the train, traveling in the same direction, struck her.
Police said they believe Graff was wearing headphones.
Norfolk Southern railroad spokesman Jeff DeGraff said the 84-car train was headed to Cresson.
The incident took place very close to where the Tarentum Bridge spans the railroad tracks below.
There were no reported injuries to the train crew, DeGraff said.
