A Plum resident has been making “good progress” toward repairing his home that borough officials previously declared dangerous and sought to tear down, according to the borough manager.

Council is scheduled to hold a follow-up hearing on the property at 247 Francis Road at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the municipal center on Old Mine Road.

Following a hearing in February, council voted to give the owner, John Vorous, four months to work on his house. That came after council removed it from a demolition list and gave him six months to bring the property into compliance after a hearing in August 2022.

Borough Manager Michael Thomas said Vorous has done considerable work since the February hearing. Borough staff has met with him and performed numerous inspections since then.

“The hearing is required by law to determine the status of the property and to take any action in the event that the owner had not made any improvements,” Thomas said. “The hearing is scheduled as a matter of law, and not because the staff feels that the homeowner is out of compliance.

“He has been working on it and making good progress, but he still has a bit to go.”
