Person injured in East Vandergrift fire

One person was injured when a fire broke out in an East Vandergrift home early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The fire started about 6:40 a.m. in a home on Elm Street, according to Westmoreland 911. The fire was extinguished by about 7:50 a.m.

Fire companies from Vandergrift, East Vandergrift and Washington Township responded.

The injured person, whom authorities did not identify, was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital for treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.
