PennDOT placed a temporary traffic signal on Leechburg Road near Elicker Road in Plum after a slide began undermining the roadway.

One Plum road that was closed while a slide was fixed has reopened, while another is set to close for the same reason.

New Texas Road reopened to traffic Monday, PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said. It had been closed between Old Leechburg Road and Rosemary Hill Drive since May 30 while crews from A. Liberoni repaired a slide.

Work to repair a slide on Leechburg Road near Elicker Road is scheduled to begin Wednesday.

Leechburg Road was part of the posted detour route while New Texas Road was closed. A slide began undermining Leechburg Road, causing PennDOT to place temporary traffic signals there and restrict the two-lane road to a single, alternating lane.

PennDOT said a portion of Leechburg Road just east of Elicker Road will close to through traffic at 9 a.m. Wednesday and remain closed continuously through mid-August.

The posted detour west of the closure will be:

• From Leechburg Road, turn onto Unity-Trestle Road;

• Bear left onto Old Leechburg Road;

• Turn left onto New Texas Road;

• Follow New Texas Road back to Leechburg Road.

The detour from east of the closure is the same in the opposite direction.

Crews from A. Liberoni also will be fixing the slide on Leechburg Road, PennDOT said.
