A New Kensington man accused of selling heroin to an undercover police officer last year at a Harmar hotel is facing drug charges.

Police said Shawnti “Savage” Shifflett, 23, sold 20 stamp bags of heroin to an undercover officer in January 2018 at the Days Inn, according to a criminal complaint.

Springdale Township and Cheswick police Chief Michael Naviglia said a confidential informant told police Shifflett was known to stay in Harmar hotels and sell heroin. Naviglia also works for the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotics Enforcement Team, also known as DANET. As part of that team, Naviglia can make arrests on matters pertaining to drugs anywhere in Allegheny County.

Police said the confidential informant went with the undercover officer to a hotel room, and the officer bought two bundles of heroin from Shifflett for $140.

A warrant was issued this week for Shifflett’s arrest. Naviglia cited an ongoing investigation as the reason charges were filed so long after the alleged buy.

Shifflett faces two felony counts of drug delivery and one misdemeanor count of drug possession, according to online court records.
