State trooper pulled into vehicle in Butler County traffic stop

A Pennsylvania State Trooper was pulled into a vehicle during a routine traffic stop in Butler County on Sunday morning, officials said.

Police said the trooper initiated the stop just after 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Pittsburgh Road and Vogel Road, having the vehicle pull into a Sheetz parking lot.

The driver attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle, police said, causing the trooper to be pulled into the vehicle as it was moving.

Troopers said they were able to “disable” the vehicle and stopped it after about 200 feet. Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody. Police said the unoccupied vehicle then rolled backward, hitting a state police vehicle.

Police said the same vehicle required biological decontamination after the passenger involved in the incident allegedly tried to spit out of the window. Police said the driver and passenger were both under the influence and in possession of controlled substances.
