An Apollo man faces charges in connection with an incident last month in which police said he tried to swallow two baggies of methamphetamine.

Police said they responded to a house on Sugar Hollow Road around 8 p.m. Aug. 21 after receiving reports about possible drug activity there. When officers arrived, they said Richard Paul Davidson, 65, removed two baggies of methamphetamine from his shirt pocket and tried to swallow them.

A struggle began between officers and Davidson, who was able to swallow one of the bags, police said. Police recovered the second bag.

Davidson is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.

The complaint was filed before District Judge James Andring out of Leechburg.
