Three of Lower Burrell’s incumbent candidates in hotly contested races – Mayor Rich Callender and Councilmen Christopher Koziarski and Christopher Fabry – will hold campaign rallies this month.

A “flash rally” with free hot dogs is set for Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the U-Haul moving and storage parking lot, 100 Burrell Plaza, in Lower Burrell. Also on hand will be Matt Schimizzi, of Hempfield, who is running for Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court judge.

The three Lower Burrell Democratics also will hold a rally at on May 15 from 6 p.m. to 8.p.m. at Mogie’s Restaurant and Irish Pub, 3210 Leechburg Road.

For the Democratic nomination, Callender is going up against John Andrejcik for mayor. Former city solicitor Steve Yakopec is vying for one of two council seats defended by Koziarski and Fabry.
