A Sheldon Park man accused of selling drugs close to the Harrison police station was found sitting on a couch with a loaded pistol under a seat cushion and a 1-year-old nearby, police said.
According to an affidavit, no one answered the door when police serving an arrest warrant yelled for whoever was inside to open the door at 143 Municipal Drive.
After forcing open the door, police and state drug agents said they found Tyrell Dudley, 28, of nearby Park Avenue on the couch and Saterra Townsend, also 28, who is the apartment’s resident, sitting on the floor and holding a 1-year-old child, police said.
The two are accused of having about 37 grams of crack cocaine and the material needed to cook it, sandwich bags and cutting agents, marijuana and almost $3,000.
The pair were arraigned Tuesday on drug and child endangerment charges.
Dudley is a convict who can’t legally have a gun, so he is facing that charge, too.
Both were arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Carolyn Bengel. She ordered them held on $25,000 bond each pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday .
Townsend’s apartment is a short walk from the police station at 1 Municipal Drive.
