A gas main line issue that left 40 customers in the Upper Burrell area without service has been resolved, but White Cloud Road remains closed, according to authorities.

Peoples Gas crews responded to the outage, which ran Sunday evening into Monday afternoon, said spokesman Nick Paradise. The Upper Burrell Volunteer Fire Company social hall was used as a warming center during the time of the outage.

Paradise said crews identified an issue with the gas main line and replaced that section of pipe. He did not have specifics regarding the issue.

“I’m not aware of issues,” Paradise said. “It sounds like it went relatively smoothly.”

White Cloud Road closed Sunday night between Route 780 and Oak Lake Road and remained closed as of Wednesday morning, according to Supervisors Chairman Ross G. Walker III. He anticipated it to reopen sometime Wednesday.

Before service was restored, Peoples service technicians went door-to-door to conduct a safety check and relight appliances.

“That’s standard,” Paradise said. “Any time we have to restore service, we do a safety check inside and out.”

Paradise encouraged people to contact Peoples at 800-764-0111 if they have an issue or smell gas.
