Fawn-Frazer Water Authority raises rates
Customers in the Fawn-Frazer Joint Water Authority will see a slight increase to their bills next year.
“We are looking at a $2 increase,” said Ed Adams, authority chairman.
The rate, effective Jan. 1, will increase from $31 to $33 monthly, Adams said. It was approved by the water authority board in November.
Most residential bills are sent bimonthly, so people will see the rates increase from $62 to $66, Adams said.
Usage over the 3,000-gallon monthly minimum will be billed at $8.40 per thousand gallons used on the standard domestic meter.
Most people in the authority, which covers Fawn and Frazer townships, have a standard domestic meter, Adams said.
Adams said the authority did not want to raise the rates but had no choice because of increasing costs of supplies and expenses.
“Our expenses — just like everyone else’s — are going up,” he said. “We’re kind of forced into it.”
He estimated about 1,800 customers are served by the authority. They have been notified of the increase, he said.
The authority hasn’t raised rates since 2021.
