PennDOT’s extended weekendlong single-lane restrictions in both directions on Route 28 will begin Thursday in Harmar, near the structure over Barge Basin.

Crews will perform expansion dam replacement work and approach roadway reconstruction according to the following schedule:

• Northbound — Starting at 6 p.m. Thursday and running through 3 p.m. Monday, restrictions will occur on the bridge located one-half mile south of the Harmar (Exit 11) off-ramp and extend through the interchange.

• Southbound — Starting at 9 a.m. Thursday and running through 6 a.m. Monday, restrictions will begin at the Route 28 on-ramp at the Harmar interchange and extend approximately one-half mile south.

The work is part of the $27.68 million restoration project on Route 28 between the Harmar and Russelton/Creighton (Exit 13) interchanges. Swank Construction Co. is the prime contractor. The work is expected to conclude in early 2024.
