East Deer bridge work planned this weekend along Route 28

More Route 28 construction is scheduled in East Deer through Monday afternoon.

PennDOT said the the single-lane restrictions on northbound Route 28 will happen at the bridge over Bailies Run Road from 7 p.m. today through 2 p.m. Monday, weather permitting.

Crews will conduct approach slab work. The overall $34.34 million project includes concrete patching, an asphalt overlay, bridge preservation work, drainage and guiderail improvements, installation of a new automatic bridge de-icing system, lighting upgrades, and other miscellaneous construction activities. The project runs between Butler County and the bridges spanning Bailies Run Road in East Deer.

Lindy Paving is the prime contractor.

Route 28 is likely to see higher than normal weekend traffic with the Pittsburgh Penguins hosting the New York Islanders Sunday at noon for this season’s first home playoff game at PPG Paints Arena and presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders holding a rally in Schenley Park Sunday at 5 p.m.
