A Kiski Township police vehicle was hit in a chase that ensued Monday night after police said they saw two juveniles smoking marijuana in the parking lot of a Dollar General store in North Apollo.

Police did not identify the boys or disclose their ages or where they are from.

When officers tried to detain the boys, police said they fled in a vehicle on River Road with the vehicle’s headlights off, passing vehicles at a high rate of speed.

The boys continued up Dime Road in Parks, where they crashed into a guardrail, spinning their vehicle around, according to police. The passenger ran from the vehicle and was caught.

The driver continued along Dime Road, when his vehicle hit a Kiski police vehicle, causing minor damage, police said. The boy was taken into custody.

Police charged the passenger with escape, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The driver was charged with fleeing and eluding police, resisting arrest, accident involving attended property, recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence, simple assault, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and several traffic offenses.
