Brackenridge will pave two streets this summer and hopes to get ATI to pay for more.

Borough council Thursday night awarded an $80,600 contract to A. Tresco Paving of Oakmont to pave Cleveland and Hazlett avenues.

The money will come from Brackenridge’s state liquid fuels reimbursement.

“We were unable to fund Cleveland last year, so we pushed it back to this year,” council Vice President John Stanzione Jr. said.

Borough officials will meet with ATI Rolled Products Inc. soon to inquire about private funding to repave First Avenue from Mile Lock Lane to Morgan Street and repave Stieren Avenue, near the ATI plant.

Heavy tractor-trailers servicing ATI use First Avenue.

Stanzione said council might need a special meeting in mid-April if ATI approves.

New employee pact

Council gave unanimous approval to a three-year contract covering public works and water plant employees.

The workers, members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union, will see a 55-cent per hour raise each year for 2022, ’23 and ’24.

The scale ranges from $24.25 per hour for new employees to $29.36 for the most senior employees.

“We were close to an agreement earlier, but it slipped away and we got it back on the ground,” borough solicitor Craig Alexander said.
