Efforts to keep the Bouquet Park Pool are continuing as the pool board has planned membership drives and a fundraiser to help them reach a goal of 250 members by March 26.

The board of the private pool in Springdale Township has said it cannot reopen in 2020 unless they have 250 memberships, which they are selling at reduced rates along with offering longer weekday evenings for swimming.

So far, about 155 memberships have been purchased, said pool board member Kellie Vergerio of Springdale.

“I feel confident,” she said Thursday. “With coming events, we’re hoping that the fundraising will help close the financial gap along with new memberships.”

Upcoming events include:

• Springdale Slam, wrestling event with pool registration available, 7 to 10 p.m. March 20, Springdale Junior-Senior High School, 501 Butler Road, Springdale.

• Fat Cat’s Subs registration event, noon to 4 p.m. March 21 at 1401 Freeport Road, Harmar.

• Carnivores Food and Drink fundraiser, 6 to 8 p.m. March 25 at 215 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. For $15, patrons can get unlimited pizza, fries and soft drinks. Raffles and bake sale also offered.

To buy a membership or donate to the pool, registration forms are available online via the Bouquet Park Pool Facebook page and at the Springdale Free Public Library and local businesses. Donations and registrations must be sent to Bouquet Park Pool, P.O. Box 172, Springdale, PA 15144.
