Lee Schumaker, code enforcement officer for Oklahoma Borough and the demolition project coordinator, stands at the Belvedere Hotel.

The demolition of the Belvedere Hotel, aka the Tin Hut, in Oklahoma Borough, is postponed, according to PennDOT.

Demolition was to begin this week with the closure of Orr Avenue at Route 66 but was called off at the last minute. Demolition was expected to last through the month of September. No timeframe was given for when the work might start.

PennDOT’s Spokeswoman Valerie Peterson said she did not know the cause for the postponement.

Calls to Westmoreland County and Oklahoma borough were not immediately returned Wednesday.
