An Aspinwall police officer was treated and released from a hospital after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Allegheny County dispatchers said there was a vehicle/pedestrian crash about 4 p.m. near the intersection of Western Avenue and Freeport Road.

The department posted on its Facebook page that Officer Scott Bailey was released with just bruises as a result of the crash.

“He is scheduled for vacation tomorrow,” the post read. “In true Bailey fashion, he’s in great spirits with a sense of humor. Thank you to the first responders and the Aspinwall residents for their thoughts and prayers.”

Borough Manager Melissa Lang O’Malley said via email to the Tribune-Review earlier in the day that the officer was working a traffic detail and was taken to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
