An Arnold man already being held in the Westmoreland County Prison was arrested last week after, police say, he exposed himself to a female commissary worker at the jail.

John D. Weathersby, 46, is charged with indecent exposure and open lewdness.

The incident was reported to county detectives on Jan. 8. Investigators said the commissary worker was passing out items on D Unit at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 6 when Weathersby called her to his cell.

The worker looked down and saw Weathersby’s genitals were exposed through the wicket on the door, according to court papers. The following day, he allegedly made sexual comments to her when she was back on the unit distributing items inmates ordered from the jail’s commissary, police said.

His bond was set at $25,000 in the case. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 5.

Weathersby has been held in the jail on $50,000 bond since June 2019 on drug charges filed by Arnold police, according to court and jail records. A writ of habeas corpus filed in the case was rejected by a judge last week, according to online court records. Trial in that case is tentatively scheduled for next month.

He was sentenced to time in a state prison and probation in 2017 and 2018 in separate drug cases in Armstrong and Indiana counties, according to online court records. He was paroled in May 2019, one month before Arnold police arrested him on new drug charges. He has had several drug-related arrests during the last 17 years, according to court records.

Weathersby remains under state supervision.
