The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Pittsburgh District plans to conduct an exercise dubbed Operation Dark Frost on Saturday at the Crooked Creek Lake Outdoor Discovery Center in Bethel.

It will run from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the center on Kerr Road.

Agencies participating will include state police, Pennsylvania Game Commission, Manor Township Police, Armstrong County Sheriff K-9, Manor Township Volunteer Fire Company, Bethel Township Volunteer Fire Department, Burrell Township Volunteer Fire Department, Ford City Emergency Medical Services, Iselin-West Lebanon Fire Department & Search and Rescue and Fort Armstrong Wireless Association K3QY.

The biannual event is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, a nonprofit association of amateur radio enthusiasts. These emergency exercises are traditionally held on the first Saturday of October and the first Saturday of April each year.
