Apollo ready to fill secretary, solicitor vacancies
Apollo soon could have a borough secretary and a solicitor again.
The borough’s personnel committee has candidates to fill the vacancies, which council is expected to vote on during its regular meeting on Thursday.
Borough council will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, at the borough building, 616 First St.
Late last year, some borough council members were concerned about the operation of the borough after it eliminated the full-time borough manager’s position. Shortly thereafter, the borough solicitor and auditor resigned.
For the last month, borough office hours have been cut and council Vice President Diane Bradshaw has been volunteering to help a part-time office worker with borough duties.
After receiving resumes and interviewing candidates, council’s personnel committee has candidates for the borough solicitor and the part-time position of borough secretary, according to Councilwoman Nancy Walker, a member of the committee.
If council agrees on the candidates Thursday, the new solicitor will be ready to work immediately, according to Walker.
The new borough secretary will be ready to start in about two weeks, she said.
