All 7 Deer Lakes School Board candidates find way on November ballot for 5 seats

The seven candidates seeking five seats on the Deer Lakes School Board will be on the November ballot one way or another, according to unofficial election results Tuesday.

Newcomers James Calvert, Susan Claus, Pietro Porco, Leonard Verdetto III and Phillip Ziendarski, and incumbents Larry Neidig and Cristy McCloskey, sought nominations. All were cross-filed.

With 100% of the vote in on the Republican ballot, Calvert was the top vote-getter with 16.77%, followed by McCloskey with 16.35%, Porco with 14.98%, Verdetto with 14.84% and Neidig had 14.03%, rounding out the top five Republican nominations. Claus had 12.47% and Ziendarski had 9.64%.

On the Democratic side, McCloskey led with 21.50% of the vote, while Claus had 17.45%, Neidig had 14.24%, Calvert had 14.18%, and Ziendarski rounded out the top five with 12.32%. Porco had 12.61% and Verdetto had 7.61%.
