2 hurt in Harrison crash

Two people were hurt when a pickup and an SUV collided on Freeport Road in Harrison Friday.

According to Harrison police, the crash happened around 11:20 a.m. at Freeport Road and Dallas Avenue.

Police said a 57-year-old man was driving a red Toyota pickup on Dallas Avenue toward Freeport Road. They said he went through a stop sign without clearance and hit the side of a black Jeep Cherokee that was traveling south on Freeport Road toward Brackenridge.

Two people were in the Jeep suffered injuries that police said were not life threatening. One of them was trapped inside and had to be removed through the passenger side. First responders removed the front passenger side door of the Jeep.

They were both taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital for treatment.

Terry’s Service in Brackenridge towed both vehicles.

The crash remained under investigation.

“Harrison Township Police would like to remind motorists that they are required to ensure that the roadway is clear before proceeding through a stop sign and officers will be conducting traffic enforcement in the area for similar violations,” police Chief Brian Turack said.

In addition to Harrison police, Citizens Hose and Hilltop Hose volunteer fire departments, Citizens Hose Ambulance Service and Eureka Fire and Rescue responded.
