Truck strikes pole in Pittsburgh's Elliott, knocking out power to hundreds

Crews stabilize a telephone pole that was struck at Corliss Street and Chartiers Avenue in Elliott on Monday.

Hundreds of Duquesne Light customers were left without power Monday morning after a truck struck a pole at Corliss Street and Chartiers Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Elliott neighborhood, according to Tribune-Review’s news partner WPXI.

There was no word available on the condition of the driver.

Crews were dispatched to the scene to restore service and the road remains closed, according to police.

As of 7:45 a.m., WPXI was reporting more than 1,600 customers were without power.
