It’s been a week since the West Jefferson Hills School District began distributing lunches to students who are out of school due to the coronavirus outbreak and Pleasant Hills Middle School food service worker Renee Roth said it seems to be starting to catch on.

Nineteen students were signed up to receive the free meal at the West Elizabeth location Tuesday.

Until school resumes, the district is offering free lunches to any student who would like one. The meals are delivered by school bus each weekday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to six locations across the district: Floreffe Fire Hall, near West Elizabeth Fire Hall, Marhoefer Drive Apartments, Mowry Park, 885 Fire Department and at entrance C117 in the back of Thomas Jefferson High School.

In order to receive a lunch, families must email foodservice@wjhsd.net or call 412-655-8610 x6232 and provide the student’s name and the distribution location they will be picking up the meal. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. the day prior to pickup.
