Students at Baldwin-Whitehall’s J.E. Harrison Education Center are seeing a little more clearly these days thanks to a partnership between the district and the non-profit organization, Vision To Learn.

The mobile eye clinic provides free eye exams and free glasses to children who may otherwise not have access.

Over the past several months, Vision To Learn has made several stops at J.E. Harrison. Assistant principal Adam Foote said about 180 of the school’s students have been examined in the clinic with about 175 of them qualifying for glasses.

“If they can’t see, they’re not going to be able to learn,” Foote said. “It’s one of the barriers we’re now going to be able to remove for students.”

Foote said Vision To Learn also will be visiting the district’s other two elementary schools, Whitehall and McAnnulty, either later this school year or early next year.
