After two months of remote learning, students at Elizabeth Forward High School will return to the classroom on Tuesday.

After two months of remote learning following a fire, students returned to Elizabeth Forward High School on Tuesday.

The fire damaged the inside of the school in February.

According to the school, rooms and areas adjacent to the auditorium space where the fire occurred are walled off and will not be accessible to students.

Families were given the chance on April 4 and 5 to visit the building and see changes that had been made.

The district noted that the school is safe and that third-party air-quality testing continues daily.

“Ongoing reports indicate that the results are below or within normal guidelines,” a statement said. “All systems are currently online and operating normally. The Allegheny County Health Department has inspected the building, including the kitchen and cafeteria, and we received approval on March 27.”

The fire, which occurred Feb. 12, was contained to the auditorium side of the school building but caused extensive damage, necessitating the high school’s closing until further notice.
