Baldwin Borough
Baldwin’s Mayor David Depretis ran uncontested for another four-year term.
The council race saw six candidates vying for four seats. The top vote-getters were Democrats Erin Brown (2,231) and Marianne Conley (2,222) and Raymond Dee (2,169) and E. John Egger (2,052), who were both cross-filed.
Baldwin Township
Democrats Eileen Frisoli and Robert Downey Jr. ran unopposed for two open seats on the board of commissioners.
Brentwood
Incumbent Mayor Dennis Troy, a Republican, lost his bid for reelection to Democrat newcomer Pat Carnevale. Carnevale received 1,047 votes while Troy only garnered 899.
Democrats swept the council race, securing the four open seats. Melissa Lenigan was the top vote-getter with 1,178, followed by Karen McWilliams with 1,098, Robert Pasquantonio with 973 and Stephen Thomas with 907.
Pleasant Hills
Mayor William D. Trimbath, who was cross-filed, ran unopposed for reelection.
Four council seats will go to Cheryl Lee S. Freedman (cross-filed, 1,283), Jarrett Niecgorski (cross-filed, 1,219), Democrat Marian Haley (1,133) and Republican Eileen Solinas (1,111).
Newcomer Niecgorski is just 19 years old.
“It feels incredibly humbling. Now, I plan to represent the people of Pleasant Hills to the best of my ability and to do everything I can to be at their service,” he said. “I think my election shows that people are tired of the same old, and are ready for something new. The people of Pleasant Hills chose me because they are ready for a new way of getting things done. They are ready for public servants that are willing to devote their time to making the borough better, and bringing it to the 21st century.”
Whitehall
Incumbent Mayor Jim Nowalk, a Democrat, defeated his Republican challenger Chris Mooney, 2,361 to 1,368 for another four-year term.
In the council race, the top four candidates were Linda Book with 2,299 votes, Stone Sobieralski with 2,295, William Vieth with 2,260 and Democrat Kathy DePuy with 2,121. Book, Sobieralski and Vieth were all cross-filed on the ballot.
School board races uncontested
All three school districts in the South Hills footprint had uncontested races.
In Baldwin-Whitehall School District, four candidates ran for four open seats – Melissa Wood, Karen Brown, Amanda Priano and Greg Zeman. All were cross-filed.
In Brentwood Borough School District, four candidates ran for four open seats – Donna Werner, Kristie Kraeuter, Gary Topolosky and Brian Rea. All were cross-filed.
The West Jefferson Hills School Board race also saw four candidates running for four open seats – Kristin Shoemaker, Kimberly S. Finnerty, Christopher Zacur and Anthony Andreas Rash. All were cross-filed.
