Jefferson Hills police Chief Eugene Roach and Mayor Janice Cmar presented the sergeant badge to Sgt. Corey Brunetti at council’s Feb. 10 meeting.
“Getting promoted is a major accomplishment in the career of a police officer,” Roach said, as he talked about the leadership skills officers must display to move to the supervisory role. “Officer Brunetti, a promotion is an indication of your quality of work and your commitment to the department and the community. It is unquestioned that you possess the skills, knowledge and abilities to be a successful sergeant. I have confidence and faith that you will succeed.”
Council President Karen Bucy, who was Brunetti’s seventh grade English teacher, said she saw many positive characteristics in him at a young age. That included leadership, empathy, a willingness to be helpful to other people, fairness and concern for what is right and wrong.
“I can truly say that in seventh grade, I saw all of these characteristics in this young man,” she said. “It is with great honor that we as council members appreciate your service, as well as the service of your peers, in this community.”
