Edgeworth couple Robin and Ann Fernandez stand at the door of their new collaboration, Exposure Sewickley inside Rodeo Louge at 507 Beaver St. in Sewickley.

A popular Sewickley art gallery has relocated.

Exposure Sewickley’s new home is inside The Rodeo Lounge, at 507 Beaver St. It’s next to The Hotel & Rosa’s Cantina.

Edgeworth resident Ann Fernandez, who founded Exposure in February 2020, said she decided to move there instead of signing a new three-year lease at her old place a block or two away.

Participating artists stayed the same. Reopening day was Feb. 28.

“The focus is here,” Ann Fernandez said overlooking her new landscape. “In here, I’m able to do bigger pieces. I have a lot more room than I did at the old place, which is nice.

“It feels great because I can still do what I love to do, and that is promote local artists and sell their art. It makes me happy … I never have a bare wall, and that’s a good thing to have with local artists.”

Large pieces currently on display include “Slava Ukraini” by Shadyside painter Elizabeth Lana. It is at least 4 feet tall with a mix of blues and golds.

Multiple paintings by Pittsburgh artist Lauren Braun are also on the walls. Pipe sculptures by retired Lower Burrell electrician Bill Booth sit in the front windows.

There are business cards by the artwork with QR codes visitors can scan to purchase the pieces. Artwork is expected to be rotated every few months.

The Rodeo Lounge opened in Sewickley about two years ago.

It is owned by Fernandez’s husband, Robin, who also owns the Cantina. The family started and sold dozens of restaurants and nightclubs in Western Pennsylvania the past 40-plus years.

“We’ve always sort of blended art and music and fashion together,” said Robin Fernandez, 68. “We started that back in the Rosebud and Metropol days back in the 1980s, and it’s something we wanted to continue. Why pay two rents when we have this beautiful space that she can work with art, and we can do music in here and private partings, things like that. We combined the space into an event space.”

Ann and Robin have been married for more than 30 years.

“We get along well, marriage and (business) partnership” said Ann Fernandez, 60. “We do well together. It’s easy. He’s got that art flair. I have that art flair. It’s good. We’ve been doing this for a long time together.”

Live entertainment at The Rodeo Lounge is planned for Friday and Saturday nights.

“I wanted to do something really fun in Sewickley,” said Robin Fernandez, who credits his wife with a lot of the family’s successes. “Town rolls up pretty early. … We consider ourselves to be in the entertainment business, not so much the restaurant business, with art, music, fashion, food. That’s how we perceive ourselves. The town’s been very good to us, and we enjoy it here.”

The venue also lends itself to private events and exhibits that may not be for everyone.

“Whatever art you see here you may not necessarily like, but the artists have studios that are full of different styles of their painting,” Ann Fernandez said. “I’m able to work with the artist and the client, and take paintings to their home and make a perfect fit for them and the artist.”

Other artists Exposure represents include Claire Hardy, Hannah Steele, Peggi Habets, Anna Singer, Terri Wolfe Izzo and Don Weller. Most paintings range between $1,500 and $5,400.
