Several political races in Quaker Valley area uncontested

Editor’s note: The Sewickley Herald is publishing election previews with candidate interviews for contested municipal and school board races only. They will run in upcoming issues.

The list of candidates for municipal and school district races is shaping up for the upcoming primary contests.

Election day for those seeking their party nominations is set for May 16.

There are several uncontested races in the Quaker Valley area.

Uncontested means that less than or enough people petitioned to be on the ballot for the number of positions being sought.

Information is according to the unofficial candidates list posted on the Allegheny County Elections Division website, alleghenycounty.us/elections.

Aleppo

Aleppo commissioners’ race of two four-year seats has just one Republican, Arthur Williams, and one Democrat, Judith Haluka, seeking nominations in the primary.

Bell Acres

Bell Acres has Republicans Lane Grafton, Gregory Molchen and Carmee Murphy-Horton and Democrat Christopher Abell, seeking party nods for three, four-year borough council seats.

Edgeworth

The Edgeworth council race with four, four-year seats open has Republicans David Aloe, Elizabeth Genter and Gregory Marlovits and lone Democrat Rebecca Mahr Catus vying for party nominations.

Glen Osborne

Glen Osborne council race with three four-year seats has just two Democrats, Joshua Marc Lambert and Michael Borrebach, running in the primary. There are no Republicans on the ballot in this race.

Leetsdale

In Leetsdale, the council race with three four-year seats has Republicans Jeffrey Weatherby and Debray Canney and Democrats Roger Nanni, Benjimen Frederick and Scott Zahner on the ballot.

Sewickley

Sewickley council Ward 1 race for one four-year seat has Republican Brian Borres and Democrat Julie Barnes running.

The Ward 2 race for two four-year seats has just Republican Lawrence Newman and Democrat Cynthia Mullins running.

In the Ward 3 race for one four-year seat, only Democrat Thomas Rostek is on the ballot.

Sewickley Heights

Sewickley Heights council race of three four-year seats has Republicans Tom McCargo, John Means and Michael Bollinger running and no Democrats on the ballot.
