Quaker Valley School District officials have approved a new four-year contract with superintendent Tammy Andreyko.

Board members unanimously voted at a special meeting Jan. 31 to keep Andreyko as head administrator through Aug. 6, 2027.

Andreyko joined the district as superintendent in 2018 and has served in education for 31 years.

Prior to arriving at Quaker Valley, she served as an assistant superintendent and principal at North Allegheny School District and as an English and debate teacher in the Chesapeake Public Schools in Virginia.

Her current contract was set to expire this August.

Andreyko’s annual salary will be $193,300 with yearly increases of up to 3% per annual performance evaluation.

“The district has had a tremendous reputation for providing a high quality education for decades,” Andreyko said. “I have been honored to be part of this tradition. During the last few years, we have weathered the covid storm and learned from that experience.

“One area we focused on was examining ways addressing the struggles of mental health in the school setting and providing resources to staff, students and families. We have seen our students and staff recognized on a state and national level for their innovative work and research.”

Quaker Valley School District was accepted into the League of Innovative Schools last fall, a national coalition of forward-thinking K-12 school districts organized by Digital Promise, a global nonprofit that works to expand opportunities for learners by bringing together solutions across research, practice and technology.

The district completed its one-to-one device initiative for students and staff under Andreyko’s watch.

The school board was also recognized as an innovative school board by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.

“I have been so proud of our efforts to research and revise curriculum to offer the best learning environments for our students that allow them to be ready for careers and college,” Andreyko said. “Whether it is being successful on the field or courts, we have seen our athletic teams and players excel and be recognized on the state level.

“Our staff and administrators go the extra mile for our kids, and I believe that is evident as we continue to share the story of Quaker Valley through our media contacts, social media and publications. I am fortunate to work among such dedicated and passionate peers, and I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the district for another four years.”

One of her goals in the next four years is to see the construction of a new high school that is currently in its design and engineering phase.

“I have every expectation that Dr. Andreyko will continue to work hard to ensure that Quaker Valley remains a supportive learning environment (that) continues to provide and expand upon the educational opportunities available to its students,” said school board vice president Marna Blackmer.

Board president Jon Kuzma said Andreyko has proven to be a strong leader and visionary for Quaker Valley.

“Dr. Andreyko’s extraordinary leadership during her tenure has shown a dedication and commitment to our students, staff, and our innovative plans for the future,” Kuzma said. “We are going in the right direction, and we appreciate all that she is doing and the hard work she does for our school district.”

The district serves 11 municipalities and has about 1,850 students.
