Quaker Valley School District has one of the most innovative school boards in the state, and now has the hardware to prove it.
The Pennsylvania School Boards Association has given this year’s Innovative School Board Award to Quaker Valley.
Leaders accepted the honor at the Excellence in Public Education Leadership Dinner at the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators-PSBA School Leadership Conference Oct. 30.
The innovative award, which was first granted in 2017, celebrates the innovative leadership of public schools and grants awards to school boards, administrators and teachers.
The Quaker Valley Education Foundation will also receive a $1,000 donation through the PSBA as a result of the award.
“It’s an honor the PSBA recognized Quaker Valley and the hard work of our volunteer school board directors,” board president Jon Kuzma said. “We like to think the board reflects the Quaker Valley difference and recognition of the innovative work by the board is greatly appreciated. This award dovetails nicely with the district’s acceptance into the League of Innovative Schools earlier this year and signals our community’s commitment to educational excellence.”
PSBA CEO Nathan Mains spoke with Kuzma and presented the award.
“The Innovative School Board Award recognizes Quaker Valley School Board’s efforts to fulfill its mission of educating and empowering all learners to design their best future,” Mains said. “Over the past few years, the district, with guidance and support from the board, has identified and implemented innovative approaches to technology adoption, school safety and security, and school construction. We are pleased to recognize Quaker Valley School Board’s efforts to foster an approach to education that prepares students to succeed now and in the future.”
