Quaker Valley-area municipal Primary Election results are in
The primary election results are in for Quaker Valley-area municipal races. All results are with 100% of precincts reporting, according to Allegheny County’s unofficial election results.
Sewickley
A 1st Ward race for a four-year council seat had only one person on the ballot for their respective party’s nomination.
Sewickley Council Vice President Julie Barnes ran unopposed for the Democratic nod in the 1st Ward.
Brian Borres ran unopposed for the Republican nod.
A 2nd Ward race for a four-year council seat had council President Cynthia Mullins unopposed for the Democratic nomination while Lawrence R. Newman ran unopposed for the Republican nomination.
Incumbent Thomas G. Rostek ran unopposed for the Democratic nod for a four-year seat in the 3rd Ward.
His Republican opponent is unclear. There were no GOP candidates on the primary ballot. However, there were 11 write-in votes.
Sewickley Heights
Sewickley Heights President John K. Means and incumbents Thomas W. McCargo and Michael Bollinger ran unopposed for Republican nods for three four-year council seats.
Means received 101 votes, followed by McCargo (99) and Bollinger (94). There were eight write-in votes.
No Democrats were on the primary ballot for Sewickley Heights Council. However, there were 23 write-in votes.
Sewickley Hills
Sewickley Hills Council President John Means, incumbent Tom McCargo and candidate Michael Bollinger ran unopposed for Republican nods for three four-year seats.
Their November challengers are unknown because there were no Democratic candidates on the ballot. However, there were 23 write-in votes.
Leet
Leet had four Democrats seeking party nominations for three four-year seats on the board of township commissioners.
Those in the primary race were Donna Adipietro, Kristine Shelton, William Wanto Jr. and incumbent Martin C. McDaniel.
Adipietro was the top vote-getter with 158 votes, followed by McDaniel, board president, with 147 and Shelton with 144.
Wanto collected 85 votes. There were 57 write-ins.
Katherine Longwell and Vice President Carolyn Verszyla were the only two Republicans seeking nods for three four-year seats.
Verszyla received 128 votes and Longwell received 67. The third spot will be filled by whoever received the most out of the 233 write-in votes cast.
Leetsdale
Leetsdale Council is expected to have at least one new member by the end of this year as only two incumbents sought reelection with three four-year seats up for grabs.
Democrats Benjimen Frederick and Scott Zahner tied for top vote-getter with 85 votes followed by incumbent Roger A. Nanni (67).
There were 47 write-in votes and no other Democratic candidates.
Republican incumbent Jeffrey Weatherby earned 72 votes followed by candidate Debra Canney with 64. There was no third Republican on the primary ballot. However, there were 40 write-in votes.
Aleppo
Aleppo commissioners Vice President Arthur Williams ran unopposed for the Republican nod for two four-year commissioner seats. He received 186 votes. There were 10 write-ins.
Commissioner Judith Haluka ran unopposed for the Democratic nod for two commissioner seats. She earned 215 votes. There were 11 write-ins.
Bell Acres
Bell Acres incumbent Christopher Abell was the lone candidate seeking a Democratic nod for three four-year council seats. He earned 157 votes. There were 13 write-in votes.
Incumbents Lane J. Grafton and Carmee Murphy-Horton and candidate Gregory C. Molchen ran unopposed for Republican nominations for the three seats.
Molchen earned 126 votes followed by Grafton (120) and Murphy-Horton (101). There were six write-ins.
Edgeworth
Edgeworth Council Vice President David Aloe and incumbents Elizabeth H. Genter and Gregory J. Marlovits ran unopposed for Republican nods for three four-year council seats.
Genter earned 146 votes followed by Aloe (135)s and Marlovits (133). There were 47 write-ins.
Rebecca Mahr Cartus was the lone Democrat seeking a party nomination for three seats. She earned 199 votes. There were 17 write-ins.
Glen Osborne
Candidates Joshua Marc Lambert and Michael Borrebach ran unopposed for Democratic nods for three four-year council seats. There were 32 write-ins.
No one was on the Republican ballot. There were 24 Republican write-in votes.
