Here’s how Quaker Valley area reorganized their local governments to start the year


Borough and township officials remained mostly the same from last year.

Many Quaker Valley area communities have set their council and commission leadership as well as reappointed administrators and other local government officials.

Aleppo

Judy Haluka is the new commission president. She takes over for George Jones, who was sworn in to a new four-year term on the board Jan. 5.

Arthur Williams was renamed commission vice president.

Commissioner Jed Michael and tax collector Clayton Steup were sworn in to four-year terms.

Nicole Hasak was hired as township secretary. Gwen Patterson remains township manager.

Benjamin Gilberti and Daniel Barna of Herbert, Rowland & Grubic remain township engineers.

Jordan Tax Service remains the real estate tax collector and Pennsylvania Municipal Services as delinquent real estate tax collector.

Bell Acres

David Renfrew and Brock Meanor were reappointed council president and vice president, respectively.

Borough operations remained the same with Lisa J. Fleming as borough manager, Kristoffer Korol as police chief and attorney Robert Max Junker of Babst, Calland, Clements & Zomnir as borough solicitor.

Professional Code Services was named borough building inspector, Willard Lewis Insurance Agency as insurance agent and Turnley Robertson & Associates as borough auditor.

Regular council meetings will be held on the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m., except if that Monday is a federal holiday. Then the meeting would be held on Tuesday after the holiday, at the Big Sewickley Creek Fire Hall.

Leet

Martin McDaniel was reappointed commission president and Martin Zimmel was named vice president.

Newcomers Jessica Cindrich and Paul Magee were sworn in to their first terms. They replaced Rody Nash and Dan Peluso, who did not seek reelection.

Other township officials remained the same with Betsy Rengers as township manager/secretary/treasurer as well as code enforcement officer, Brian Jameson as police chief, Andy Wanto as public works foreman, Jake Mosholder and Bill Miller as public works laborers and Turnley, Robinson and Associates as auditors.

Stephen Chesney was retained as township solicitor, Jen Dugan as administrative assistant, LSSE as township engineers and First National Bank as official depository.

Leetsdale

Maria Napolitano was reappointed as council president and Osman Awad was reappointed vice president.

Napolitano, Awad, incumbent James DeGori and newcomer Robert Benedict were sworn in to their council seats by Mayor Sandra Ford.

Benedict takes over for Caitlin Gresham, who did not seek reelection. Ford was sworn in to another term by District Judge Giuseppe Rosselli prior to the reorganization meeting.

Janet Hardy-Miklos was hired as borough manager. She takes over for borough secretary Jennifer Simek, who no longer works for the borough.

Dan Conlon and the firm Tucker Arensberg Attorneys were retained as solicitor. Dan Slagle and Nichols & Slagle Engineering were retained as the borough engineer.

Tax collector Tom Belcastro was sworn in. He was also appointed local service tax collector.

Sewickley

Cynthia Mullins and Julie Barnes were renamed council president and vice president, respectively.

Councilwoman Donna Korczyk was named president pro tem.

Korczyk and council members Linda Solecki, Todd Hamer, Anne Willoughby and Kristopher Lorang and tax collector Joshua Munn were all sworn in to new terms.

The rest of borough operations remained the same with Donna Kaib as borough manager, Sherry Clarke as borough treasurer, Nathaniel Boring as borough solicitor and Mike Galet and Gateway Engineers as borough engineer.

Sewickley Heights

John K. Means was named council president and Craig S. Kinney vice president.

Mayor George Magovern and council members Mary Barbour, Thomas Pangburn, Carey Sirianni and Kinney were all sworn in to new terms.

Committees remained the same, as did borough operations.

Nathan Briggs remained borough manager/treasurer/secretary/open records officer, street commissioner and emergency management coordinator.

Emily Moldovan remained zoning officer/building code official/uniform construction code officer and planning director.

Patrick McGuire was named health officer. Alyssa Golfieri was named borough solicitor.
