Franklin Park lakefront estate is on the market for $4.2M
A lake estate offering privacy, nature and abundant water-themed activities is on the market in Franklin Park.
The luxurious sprawling brick and stone home located at 1635 Pegher Lane is tucked away down a private paved driveway and nestled next to a six-acre lake.
It’s listed for $4.2 million with Realtor Nicholas Fix of Berkshire Hathaway.
Boasting custom timber-frame construction, a six-car heated garage and more than 10,000 square feet of living space, the 19-acre property is just 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.
“It’s going to be purchased by someone that wants a showpiece,” Fix said. “Someone who may want a second home. Most people who are looking in this price range probably have multiple homes and the means to enjoy them. This is very aggressively priced for what you’re getting.”
Two separate buyers have already expressed great interest since the property was listed about two weeks ago. Fix expects whoever buys the home to pay with cash.
Realtor Debbie Professori noted the home would be perfect for an athlete.
“The lake is stocked for fishing and you can swim. There’s a dock, inflatables and a trail around the lake. It’s like a mini-North Park,” Professori said.
The owner is selling because he’s relocating.
“We listed it two years ago and we had offers but his new home wasn’t completed yet,” Fix said.
The owner raised his five boys on the property where they enjoyed lakeside activities such as kayaking, swimming, fishing, ice skating and more.
A small island with a metal dock sits in the middle of the lake and a separate dock is closer to the home.
“It’s just such a feeling of serenity here, so close to the city,” Fix said. “It’s a little slice of heaven.”
Built in 2004, the home has a slate roof, copper gutters and drain spouts and a gourmet chef’s kitchen with a Sub-Zero freezer, Wolf range and marble countertops.
“The little details are everywhere,” Fix said.
The home has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, a game room and three wood-burning barnstone fireplaces.
Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom and every bedroom except the primary suite also has a loft.
An expansive flagstone terrace offers panoramic views of the lake, often frequented by wildlife, such as blue herons and deer.
The home is zoned agricultural and has a clean-and-green status.
The annual taxes are almost $28,000, according to online real estate records.
