Restaurant owner charged in shooting of teenager in Stowe Township
A restaurant owner was arrested Sunday, accused of shooting a 15-year-old boy who was seen on video trying to take the tip jar at the owner’s restaurant, police said.
Mohammed Hamdan, 39, is charged with aggravated assault in the incident, which happened Saturday around 10 p.m, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.
Surveillance video shows Hamdan shooting at least three rounds with a pistol at the teenager, who appeared on the video to be trying to leave with the tip jar after ordering, police said.
The restaurant, Hook Fish and Chicken, is located at 700 Broadway Ave.
The teenager, who had multiple gunshot wounds, was taken to an area hospital after the incident. Police said he is in stable condition.
After reviewing the video and speaking with witnesses, detectives found no evidence to suggest the teenager was armed, or that he threatened Hamdan at any time, police said.
Hamdan is being held in the Allegheny County Jail pending preliminary arraignment.
