One of three Youth Dairy Days across the state will be held at the Indiana County Fairgrounds, 803 Hospital Road, Indiana, on June 10.

The event, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., is designed for young people ages 5-18 who want to learn more about careers in the dairy industry.

The Penn State Extension Dairy Team will focus on the science of modern dairy farming and good management practices. Topics will include quality animal management, forage quality, cheese making, pesticide safety, pregnancy and reproductive efficiency.

The event is free but registration is required. Deadline is June 5.

A parent/guardian or designated chaperone is required to remain throughout the day with youth under the age of 8. Instructors will be Penn State Extension educators.

For more information, contact Andrew Sandeen via email at ats15@psu.edu or by calling 724-465-3880.

The other Youth Dairy Days are being held June 18 in Shippensburg and June 20 in Huntingdon.
