A woman killed in a house fire early Tuesday in Cecil was identified by the Washington County Coroner.

Rose Churray, 81, was pronounced dead after a fire at her home along Swihart Road.

Emergency crews from six companies responded to the home just before 5:30 a.m. after a passerby observed the fire and called 911.

Firefighters arrived to find two homes on fire, officials said. The fire began at a home in the rear of the property where Churray lived and spread to another house in front of it.

Churray was found after crews knocked out the blaze. No other injuries were reported.

Companies that responded include Cecil, Canonsburg, Lawrence, Muse, North Strabane and Peters fire departments, along with crews from Columbia Gas, Pennsylvania American Water and West Penn Power.

The state fire marshal is investigating.
