A man from Bulger in Washington County was killed when his vehicle collided with a garbage truck Tuesday morning, according to Washington County Coroner S. Timothy Warco.

Thomas Joseph Hammond, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene on Route 980 in Robinson Township. Warco on Tuesday had yet to rule on the cause and manner of the death.

Hammond was driving north at about 5:30 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and it collided with the truck in the 2000 block of Robinson Highway, Warco said.

A portion of the highway was temporarily closed between Beagle Club Road and Route 22.

State police assisted at the scene and McDonald police are investigating the crash.
