About $4.2 million worth of cocaine and $950,000 in heroin and fentanyl were taken off Pennsylvania streets by state troopers between July 1 and Sept. 30, according to police.
That equals 192 pounds of cocaine, 23 pounds of heroin and 14 pounds of fentanyl, troopers said.
Pennsylvania State Police released the figures this week, noting a total of $8.6 million worth of drug seizures during the three-month period.
In addition to the cocaine, heroin and fentanyl, troopers confiscated 66 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $656,000 and 773 pounds of processed marijuana worth $2.3 million.
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s 2018 National Drug Threat Assessment predicts that increased availability and lower prices will push cocaine as a trend through at least 2019 as a result of record production of the drug in Colombia.
State officials reported in March an increase in cocaine and methamphetamine use in Pittsburgh, Johnstown and Philadelphia — areas that are typically considered to be at the forefront of new trends for the state.
