State police in Uniontown are investigating a fatal car crash reported Sunday in South Union Township where a man was found dead inside his overturned vehicle in Redstone Creek.

Troopers said Monday that James E. Hayden, 65, of Hopwood, was deceased inside his 2007 Subaru Outback, which was discovered in the creek along the 100 block of Township Road about 2:51 p.m.

Trooper Brody Patrick reported Hayden was the only person inside, and was wearing a seat belt.

Patrick said that the accident remains under investigation. The Fayette County Coroner’s office is assisting.
