An Armstrong County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Indiana County, according to investigators.

Douglas Chris Craig, 55, of South Bend Township, was driving east on Route 422 in Armstrong Township just before 4 a.m. when a Ford box truck crossed the center line and hit the victim’s Ford Fiesta head on, state police and Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. said.

Craig was extricated from his heavily-damaged vehicle by firefighters. He donated body tissue, the coroner said. An autopsy was performed Wednesday and a cause and manner of death is pending toxicology test results.

It was unclear if the truck driver, a 26-year-old Altoona man, was injured. Troopers did not identify him in the release. State police closed Route 422 near Cunningham Road Wednesday morning for crash reconstruction.

John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
