We know how much you love your Sheetz shnacks and shweets. Now is your chance to let the rest of the country know how good they are.
The Altoona-based convenience store chain has been selected by USA Today as a finalist for this year’s Best Regional Fast Food Reader’s Choice in its annual 10Best travel awards.
In this national competition, Sheetz is competing in a field of 20 regional favorites, including Bojangles, In-N-Out Burger, Whataburger and others less familiar to Western Pennsylvanians.
Sheetz currently sits atop the leaderboard, followed by North Carolina-based Biscuitville and the Midwestern chain Culver’s.
Voters can weigh in once a day until noon Feb. 28 at 10best.com, where the leaderboard also can be seen. The winner will be announced March 11.
“These 20 fast-food restaurants are so good that they are worth traveling across the country to try,” says USA Today.
Sheetz has something that sets it apart from the rest of the field, though, according to Nick Ruffner, a Sheetz public relations manager.
“We’re thrilled to be listed alongside other prominent fast food restaurants in this contest, and we’re even more excited to be the only convenience store to be included in this list,” he said. “As a brand, our goal has always been to give customers what they want, how they want it and when they want it, which is why we have an expansive, award-winning menu of great-tasting, Made-to-Order food and awesome customized specialty drinks that we offer around the clock.”
Sheetz has more than 600 locations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina, and more than 21,000 employees. All Sheetz stores are company-owned and operated.
In addition to its custom food menu, Sheetz offers packaged foods, beverages and convenience store items. Most locations sell gasoline, and a few are full-scale truck stops.
