Sheetz to build facility in Ohio to support food preparation, distribution
Sheetz Inc. plans to build a $145 million facility in Findlay, Ohio, to boost the convenience store chain’s food preparation and distribution as it aims for further expansion.
The project will create more than 700 jobs over five years, the Altoona-based company said Monday.
“We’re excited to bring new opportunities to the area, as we continue to expand throughout the state of Ohio and into Michigan in 2025,” said CEO Travis Sheetz. “Findlay is located in the heart of this new growth area and will play a big role in the future of Sheetz.”
Sheetz has been eyeing expansion throughout the region. It is expanding its footprint in Bakery Square in a former industrial space along Penn Avenue where it is adding 20,000 square feet to accommodate its growing ranks of employees working in information technology, data and innovations and other corporate positions. The company first opened a tech hub in the East End in 2019.
The family-owned company operates more than 685 convenience restaurant stores in six states and employs more than 25,000 people.
“Sheetz’s decision to choose Ohio for its new food prep and distribution operation speaks to the state’s strength in both the logistics and food and agribusiness sectors,” J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO, said in a statement. “This investment attracts a strong Ohio presence from a rapidly growing brand that will bring 750 new jobs to Hancock County.”
