Two people died as a result of shootings Friday afternoon near Uniontown, Fayette County Coroner Dr. Phillip Reilly said Saturday.

He said that autopsies are scheduled to be performed on the victims on Saturday.

Reilly said the families of the victims have been notified, but he declined to reveal the names of the victims until the state police at Uniontown issue a statement.

State police responded to a shooting at around 3 p.m. on Atlas Road near the George R. Smalley Co. in North Union Township, according to a Fayette County dispatcher.

A state police dispatcher said a news release has not been prepared.
