PNC closing 3 more Pittsburgh-area branches

PNC will close three more bank branches in the Pittsburgh area in June.
The branches that will close June 11 are in McCandless, Oakdale and Ambridge. Each will be consolidated with another location, bank spokeswoman Marcey Zwiebel said.
The closings are driven by changes in the way customers are doing their banking, Zweibel said.
Zweibel said that PNC saw about 77% of consumer customers use non-teller channels for most of their transactions during the fourth quarter of 2020, when deposits by automated teller machines and mobile channels accounted for 66% of total deposit transactions.
“These shifts in the way customers are conducting their banking transactions are important inputs that inform our branch consolidation decisions,” she said.
The McKnight Road branch, at 95 Blazier Drive, will be consolidated with the North Hills Banking Center at 50 McIntyre Drive; the Oakdale branch, at 105 Seminary Ave., will be consolidated with the Robinson Towne Center branch at 2101 Park Manor Boulevard; and the Ambridge branch, at 498 Merchant St., will be consolidated with the Sewickley branch at 401 Beaver St.
PNC notifies customers about branch consolidations 90 days in advance, Zwiebel said.
“For that reason, we have not notified customers of upcoming consolidations beyond June 11,” she said.
According to Zweibel, on May 21, the Slippery Rock University Branch at 1 Morrow Way will be consolidated with the Clearview Mall Branch in Butler.
Also on May 21, two branches — the Rostraver Shopping Center Branch and the West Newton Branch (200 E. Main St.) — are being consolidated into the new Willowbrook Plaza Branch in Rostraver, at 4645 State Route 51.
In July 2020, PNC Financial Services said it planned to permanently close 52 branch offices, including nine in Western Pennsylvania — in Greensburg, Indiana, North Versailles, Elizabeth, Mt. Lebanon, West Mifflin, Bridgeville and South Fayette.
The Harmar branch will close on Friday, as previously announced in December. That location is being consolidated with the Pittsburgh Mills branch in Frazer.
