State police arrested a Perry man they said charged them armed with a pair of large knives on Tuesday.
Troopers responded to a residence near Water and First streets in Perry Township, Fayette County, shortly after 1 a.m., for a report of man who had ingested rat poison and threatened to kill himself along with a man and woman who were in the house, according to state police.
Police said Jason M. Carocci, 43, of Perry, charged at them with the knives as they arrived, “asking to be shot or he would kill the troopers,” according to a police release.
Troopers deployed Tasers and Carocci was transported to WVU Medicine Hospital in Uniontown before being taken to the Fayette County Jail.
He faces multiple charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, making terroristic threats, resisting arrest and harassment.
He was denied bail and faces a March 29 preliminary hearing in District Judge Richard Kasunic II’s Perry court.
On Wednesday, Carocci was additionally charged with multiple counts of driving under the influence in connection with a Feb. 4 traffic stop. He faces a preliminary hearing Thursday morning on those charges before Kasunic.
